Placement Opportunity - Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre

Ricefield is the hub for Chinese arts and culture in Scotland; a meeting place for artists, musicians and designers of Chinese descent, and for those interested in and influenced by East Asian culture. We aim to enrich and diversify cultural activity in Scotland, nurturing creativity within the Chinese communities, and introducing both contemporary and traditional Chinese art, design and crafts to the mainstream.

Please visit www.ricefield.org.uk for further information.

Placement Opportunities
Ricefield operates with a small team of one full-time Project Coordinator, two part-time administrators and a pool of freelance artists and workshop facilitators. Volunteers are recruited on a project-by-project basis. All additional skills are very much appreciated and the difference they make to our output as an organisation is tangible.

The majority of work on a placement with Ricefield would be carried out in Ricefield Arts and Cultural Centre (41 West Graham Street, Glasgow G4 9LJ), with the possibility of some off-site work depending on the skills and interests of the successful applicant.

Please note that this is an unpaid placement of up to 20 hours per week. We can reimburse volunteers with expenses for travel and lunch (£7.50 per day).

Required Year of Study: You must be an International student (Non EEA excluding Romania and Bulgaria) studying a taught masters programme.

Required Degree Subject: Taught Postgraduate in a business related discipline, with a particular interest in marketing or finance.

Person Specification:
A summer placement with Ricefield would be flexible to the skills and interests of the applicant. We are currently interested in developing projects in market research, marketing/advertising and finance. We always need assistance with general development strategies and fundraising/sponsorship.

The skills we require include:
· The ability to work independently and as part of a team.
· Good communication skills.
· Knowledge or interest in the Chinese language and culture would be beneficial.
· Highly motivated to achieve goals.
