Website Editor position within the Communications Team

Background:
· The Communications Team is responsible for coordinating all public-facing aspects of the work of the Embassy. The team currently comprises six members. Each Communications Officer is assigned a portfolio of subject areas on which they support public engagement activity. This role will support the Embassy’s online presence, with responsibility for managing the Embassy website. The role would be suitable for recent IT graduate or person with web editing experience.
Main Duties:
· To manage and update the British Embassy website
· Providing IT support to Embassy staff on media related issues.
· To manage and update the Embassy intranet portal
· Analysing and reporting on developments in Chinese online media and providing summaries of media coverage on major events
· Provide assistance to Communications team colleagues on online media related work
· Conduct simple video editing and subtitling where required
· Train other staff members in how to upload content to the website
Requirements on competencies and skills:
· Expertise in online media / web design (essential)
· Experience in video editing (non-essential but beneficial)
· Good understanding of the Chinese online media environment
· Fluency in both written and spoken Chinese and English
· Strong attention to detail
· Ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritise
· Good interpersonal and communication skills
· Good presentation skills

The successful candidate will be employed under locally employed staff conditions within the British Embassy. Conditioned working hours is 35 hours/week from Monday to Friday.
